Answers to common questions about lighting rendering
What do you need from us to start a project?
Any combination of CAD files, technical drawings, exact dimensions, reference photos, material specifications and finish samples. If IES or LDT photometric files are available, include them with the brief. If the product exists only as a sketch, we can model from that too. The more accurate the source materials are, the faster we can build and approve the 3D model.
Can you show a light fixture switched on, with realistic light?
Yes. When IES or LDT photometric files are available, we use them to reproduce beam shape and light distribution as closely as the supplied data allows. We also match CCT, falloff, glow and reflections. Without photometric files, we build the effect from product photos and visual references.
Can you create a lighting 3D model from photos?
Yes. We can model a lighting product from clear photos taken from several angles. Exact dimensions are still required to ensure correct proportions, and complex internal construction may require drawings or additional references.
How do color and finish variations work?
The scene is built once. After the base geometry is approved, we create different colors, materials, finishes, sizes, mounting types and lighting configurations from the same setup, without rebuilding every asset from scratch. Variations usually cost less because the approved model and scene setup are reused.
How long does a lighting rendering project take?
A single product usually takes 5 to 7 working days from brief to final images. The exact schedule depends on product complexity, the quality of the source files and the number of views and variations, so we confirm it after reviewing the brief. Large collections run in parallel batches, and you comment on draft renders directly in our CGI CRM.
What file formats do we receive?
Print-ready and web-optimized stills (JPG, PNG, TIFF with transparency on request), MP4 for animation, and GLB/USDZ when you need the model for AR or a configurator. Layered source files are available on request.
Can you render large lighting collections and catalogs?
Yes. Large collections can be produced in parallel batches using shared approved assets. The models stay in your library and are reused for future colorways and campaigns.
How much does 3D rendering for lighting products cost?
The price depends on modeling complexity, the number of images, scene type, resolution, product variations and required formats. The first image of a product carries the modeling and scene setup; every extra finish, shade or mounting option rendered from the same scene costs a fraction of it, so reusing an approved model across a collection reduces the cost per image.
