Case Study
A Watch Collection — Without a Studio Shoot

Julien de Bourg · Swiss Watches
From drawings to a full product catalog in CGI: a Swiss watch brand needed detailed product imagery for its website without studio photography. From drawings and photo references, our artists modeled the watches and produced multiple strap and dial color options, plus social-ready key visuals — all from a single set of 3D models.

Excellent communication, excellent value, great work and fast. Our company has worked with CGIFurniture on multiple occasions and we've always been very happy with their work.
The render team at CGI is extremely thorough which was very helpful for creating complex, technical, lifestyle rendered images related to bathrooms, kitchen, and plumbing. My company is based in the USA and manufactures rough-in plumbing products. CGI was able to create beautiful lifestyle imagery with complex details of our product through several rounds of revisions and clarifications, but they were always extremely communicative and quick to respond.
The team at CGI Furniture has been amazing! They helped our team bring multiple products to life. Anton and their entire team were professional, timely, and experts in their field. Looking forward to working with them again.
Very easy to work with and use a seamless communication system! Excited for upcoming projects.
Excellent value, service and output. Visuals created were very high quality. Any feedback was very quickly incorporated and nothing was a problem. Will be placing an order for a larger set of products soon.
I’ve been working with the team at CGI for almost two years now, and they have been absolutely incredible to work with. Kate leads a team of true professionals who not only understand my vision but consistently bring it to life with precision, creativity, and care. What sets them apart is their collaborative approach: they are always open to feedback, receptive to changes, and offer thoughtful input that often enhances the final outcome. Their ability to balance what I’m asking for with what’s best for the project has made them an invaluable creative partner. They’re also excellent communicators, always responsive and reliable, and every project is delivered on time, often ahead of schedule. I highly recommend CGI for any digital imagery needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why use 3D rendering instead of fashion photography?
Fashion sells on the look and on the thumbnail — the visual is the product. Reshooting for every colorway, fabric, and seasonal scene is expensive and slow, and it can only happen after samples exist. With 3D, one scene file produces every variant, on-model and lifestyle scenes need no casting or location, and content is ready months before the first sample ships — when buyer decks, marketplace listings, and Fashion Week displays actually need it.
Can you render a product that hasn't been manufactured yet?
Yes — this is one of the strongest use cases for 3D. From sketches, tech packs, fabric specs, or CAD, we produce photorealistic renders before tooling, sampling, or the first production run. Pre-launch content for marketplace listings, wholesale pitches, Fashion Week, and pre-orders is routine.
How do you handle colorways, materials, and SKU variants?
Every colorway, fabric, finish, hardware, and stone option is a parameter in the scene file. Swap and re-render instead of restaging and reshooting. A multi-color rollout from one base model is straightforward, and for very large SKU counts we automate the variant pipeline.
Can the same model be used for stills, on-model, 360°, AR, and social?
Yes — this is the highest-leverage advantage of 3D. A single model built for hero rendering can be dressed on a digital model, exported as a 360° sequence, retopologized for AR (glTF/USDZ), composited into lifestyle scenes, and animated for social. Each additional content type costs a fraction of starting from scratch.
How do you render fabric, leather, metal, and gemstones realistically?
Specialized shaders resolve from marketplace thumbnail to 4K campaign blow-up. Weave and knit structure, denim texture, leather grain and stitching, suede nap, brushed and polished metal, watch-crystal refraction, and gemstone brilliance are all individually controllable and built into a reusable material library per category.
Can you produce on-model / ghost-mannequin shots without a photo shoot?
Yes. We deliver ghost-mannequin (invisible-mannequin) and on-model renders with realistic drape and fabric behavior — no casting, no studio, no model releases. Pose, body type, and styling become adjustable parameters rather than a new shoot.
Do you deliver marketplace-spec images (Farfetch, Net-a-Porter, Zalando, Amazon)?
Yes. We produce stills in the exact dimensions, backgrounds, and aspect ratios each marketplace requires — Farfetch, Net-a-Porter, Zalando, Amazon Fashion — plus your own DTC store. The same source assets are re-formatted per channel without re-rendering from scratch.
Can you produce AR / virtual try-on assets (glTF / USDZ)?
Yes. The same models used for stills are optimized into AR-ready glTF/GLB and USDZ assets for View-in-Your-Space and virtual try-on experiences across web, iOS, and Android, and for configurator integrations.
What file formats do you accept?
Tech packs and fabric specs, STEP/IGES, OBJ/FBX/GLB, native Rhino/Blender/Maya, and sculpt files. For jewelry and watches, CAD (STEP/3DM) is ideal. If you have only sketches or photos plus measurements, we build the 3D models from scratch — modeling quoted separately.
How much does a 3D fashion render cost?
A single product render starts in the lower hundreds of dollars depending on complexity. Full collections with multiple SKUs, on-model, and lifestyle are priced by scope, and additional renders from an established model — colorway and material variants, extra angles — start from a few cents each on batch orders. Request a tailored quote within one business day.
How long does a typical project take?
A single product render: about 5–10 business days. A full collection (silo + on-model + lifestyle across several SKUs): roughly 3–5 weeks. A pre-launch pack (stills + 360° + AR): 4–6 weeks. From sketch to lookbook in about 6 weeks. A specific timeline is provided after brief review.
How many revisions are included?
Two structured revision rounds — one after the first frame approval, one after the full render pass. Same-day tweaks within scope. Out-of-scope changes (design changes mid-production, scope additions) are quoted separately as a flat rate.
Do you handle NDA and pre-launch projects?
Yes — most of our fashion work is under NDA. We render from sketches and tech packs before the sample ships, so wholesale decks, marketplace listings, configurator content, and campaign assets can launch with the same photorealistic visuals on day one.
Can you match exact Pantone colors and our brand fabrics?
Yes. We calibrate materials to your Pantone references, lab dips, and physical fabric swatches so every render matches production color and texture. Color and fabric libraries are saved and reused across the collection, keeping everything consistent from marketplace thumbnail to 4K campaign.
